2025 was a big year for Bible shows and movies. Up until this year, The Chosen was virtually the only major Bible show around. Now, there are several serious options out there, each in a unique sub-genre with its own distinct fanbase. For fans of epic fantasy and adventure, there's House of David. For fans of feel-good sitcoms, there's The Promised Land. For fans of dystopian drama, there's Testament. And for the kids, there's The Chosen Adventures. On top of that, we got several major theatrical releases: two animated Jesus films (King of Kings and Light of the World), the animated David film, and the controversial teenage Jesus horror film, The Carpenter's Son.
Now that there are so many Bible shows and films coming to market each year, it's inevitable that fans will want to discuss which show was best. But choosing just one "best show/film" is a little simplistic. Even a somewhat mediocre show may contain an amazing performance or cool moment. That's why we're excited to launch our own annual Bible show and film awards, in which contributors to The Bible Artist will be awarding a variety of honors, including "The Best Live Action Bible Show/Film of 2025." In the latest episode of The Bible Artist Podcast, Victor, Kyle, and I nominated and discussed candidates for a variety of categories. Next week, we will reveal the results of our deliberations in the first annual award show.
But we don't want to make our decision in a vacuum. Make your voice heard by voting on the candidates below by Monday 12/22 at 1:00 PM (EST) and by sharing your thoughts in the comments below. Your feedback may sway our decisions and your votes will decide who wins the "audience choice" award for each category.
